Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-15
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Briar ("the Service") operated by the Briar team, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part, do not use the Service.
2. Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to: (a) violate any law, (b) infringe intellectual property, (c) transmit malware or harmful code, (d) attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or workspaces, (e) abuse rate limits or attempt denial of service.
4. Data + workspace isolation
All data you upload (secrets, configurations, prompts) is scoped to your workspace. Secrets are encrypted at rest using Fernet (AES-128-CBC + HMAC-SHA256). Plaintext is never returned by our API after the initial write.
5. Service availability
We aim for high availability but provide the Service on an "as is" basis without warranty of uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be announced at status.usebriar.com.
6. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts for terms violations, with email notice where reasonable.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Briar shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced via email at least 30 days before they take effect.
